The Downtown Disney shopping and entertainment district at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, has reopened today after a 4-month closure due to the Coronavirus. We headed to the park to check out all of the happenings on the first day. Come along with us on a quick walking tour around Downtown Disney as we check out the crowds and what stores are open.

We arrived at Downtown Disney in the early afternoon of opening day, after the crowd had thinned from the Disney diehards and bloggers that lined up in the early morning hours. Parking is only in the Simba lot for now, off of Katella and Disney Way, and is currently free (something you never get at Disney). Upon arriving we headed through the mandatory face mask check point, then onto the temperature check. Once cleared it was onto a K9 sniff and then bag search and metal detector. If anything, security is definitely beefed up.

Once inside we noticed what is now the norm, markings on the ground to keep parties separated while in line, plexiglass dividers, and plenty of Cast Members enforcing distancing and mask rules. In general everyone was complying nicely, though it still seems that 80% of people don’t know how to properly wear a mask (seriously, cover your nose already).

The busier stores had virtual queues in which you will get a text when your spot in line is ready. There were plenty of people eating, with lines for most establishments. The same went for shopping. There really must have been some pent up demand for Disneyland gear. There were some people sitting on benches to rest from the heat, but most were up and moving about. Cast Members were out in force to also keep folks from loitering too long or sitting at tables when they aren’t eating.

Overall, we had a great day back at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort. We certainly felt safe and the crowds were very mild. We’re excited to get back and enjoy another meal, and hopefully get to visit the theme parks very soon.

The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh is an indoor dark ride at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. The ride is based on the movie of the same name which itself is based on the popular Winnie-the-Pooh book series. A version of the ride exists at Disneyland Park in California, the Magic Kingdom at Disney World Florida, Shanghai Disneyland Park, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Disneyland version of the ride, seen here, is unique from the others as it features different ride vehicles (beehives vs. honey pots) and has unique show scenes.

The ride was built in 2003 and replaced the fan favorite Country Bear Jamboree, which had resided in the park since 1972.

Take a ride with us on the famous Splash Mountain ride at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. This video features views from the rear seat facing to the right, a unique view among typical POV videos. The video is recorded in stunning 4K at 60 frames per second on a GoPro Hero 7 Black using Hypersmooth stabilization.

Splash Mountain first opened in 1989 and the story is loosely based on the movie “Song of the South” and the folk tale “Br’er Rabbit Leaves Home”, though unique characters are featured throughout the ride. The ride had a construction budget of $75 million dollars and reportedly far exceeded that amount.

Two other versions of the ride have been built, one at The Magic Kingdom in Disney World Florida, and the other at Tokyo Disneyland. Both opened in 1991and both versions had lap bar restraints added in 2001 (unlike the Disneyland original).

The Incredicoaster is a steel roller coaster located at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. The ride first opened on February 8th, 2001 and was originally named California Screamin’. Incredicoaster is the tallest (108 feet) and fastest (55 mph) ride at the Disneyland Resort. And at more than 6,000 feet long the ride is also the longest inverting roller coaster in the world.

California Screamin’ closed to the public in early 2018 to begin its transformation along with the entire Paradise Pier area of the park. The ride reopened in June of 2018 themed to the movie The Incredibles and its sequel, Incredibles 2. Along with the ride update, Paradise Pier was rethemed and renamed to Pixar Pier.

The ride was built by renowned roller coaster builder Intamin. Using linier induction motors (electro magnets) riders are launched from zero to 55 mph in just 4 seconds as the coaster ascends the first hill. LIMs are used again midway through the ride to lift the train up the second lift hill.

Incredicoaster has a height restriction of 48 inches, features a Single Rider line, and is on the Fast Pass system.
